About This Tea

What does Mare Gyokuro taste like?
This premium Gyokuro offers a captivating balance of profound umami and delicate sweetness. Its exquisite profile unfolds with savory notes of snap pea and a creamy, melted butter richness, rounded ou. It leans umami, vegetal and buttery.
How should I brew Mare Gyokuro?
Water around 70–80 °C (158–176 °F). In a mug, steep 2–3 min. For gongfu, use 3–5 g per 100 ml, 15–30 s steeps. You'll get to see how the flavor changes across multiple rounds. The biggest mistake with green tea is using boiling water. Keep it well below that and you won't get bitterness.
Where does Mare Gyokuro come from?
Grown in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan from the Blend cultivar. This batch is from the 2025 harvest. The leaves got a light roast after picking.
