About This Tea
What does Bancha taste like?
This organic Japanese green tea offers a gentle, mature profile, less overtly vegetal than some of its counterparts. With its smooth texture and characteristic Japanese freshness, it delights the pala. It leans smooth, umami and fresh.
How should I brew Bancha?
Water around 70–80 °C (158–176 °F). In a mug, steep 2–3 min. For gongfu, use 3–5 g per 100 ml, 15–30 s steeps. You'll get to see how the flavor changes across multiple rounds. The biggest mistake with green tea is using boiling water. Keep it well below that and you won't get bitterness.
Where does Bancha come from?
Grown in Japan. This batch is from the Summer harvest.
How much does Bancha cost?
Starts at $18.00 from Dobrá Tea, or about $0.36/g. A 50g package gets you around 8 gongfu sessions at ~6 g each, which works out to about $2.16 per session. Explore more green teas on Teadar.
